John and Mary Pike
of orange County and state of Northcarolina
and
Mary Hinshaw
daughter of
Jesse and Elizabeth Hinshaw
of the County of Chatham and state before mentioned
Having expressed their
intention of marriage with each other before a monthly meeting
of friends held for cane creek at Rocky River meeting house
in the county of of Chatham and state aforesaid,
And after due inquiry nothing appearing to obstruct
were allowed by said meeting to proceed - - -
Now these are to certify whom it may concern that for the full accomplishment of their said intentions this sixth day of the Eleventh month in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and twenty eight they the said Samuel Pike and Mary Hinshaw appeared a publick meeting friends held at cane creek meeting house in the county of orange and they the said Samuel Pike and Mary Hinshaw did in a solemn manner openly declare that they took each other for husband and wife and as a further confirmation thereof did to these presents set their hands she according to the custom of marriage assuming the name of her husband We whose names are here unto subscribed were present at the solemnization of the above said marriage - - - Samuel Pike
