Tourist attractions in the SouthBay (San Jose etc.)

[Winchester mystery house | San Jose State | Lick Observatory]

Winchester mystery house

Sarah Winchester, widow of the inventor of the Winchester rifle, believed that she wouldn't die until she finished building her house, so she kept building and building and building until she died. Here's a view of her house, located along Winchester Blvd. just north of Interstate 280.

San Jose State University

Located in downtown San Jose, between 4th and 10th streets, is San Jose State University. Here's an image of it, specifically a fountain on the 7th-street walkway:

To the East of San Jose, at the highest peak among the foothills, lies Lick Observatory. Here's a view of it from the distance.

Lots of observatories with bigger telescopes have been built more recently.
I have some telescope images here:
galaxies or nebulae and star-clusters.
