On 2011.Nov.28 I registered to become an Americans Elect Delegate, and in response I got e-mail confirming that I'm a delegate.
.
Some things to note about that e-mail:
It says "Go to AmericansElect.org" but doesn't say what to do when I get there. I looked around there but couldn't find any way to do anything. In particular, there was no way to log in as a delegate.
It also says "*Participation in the convention is subject to verification of your status as a registered voter in the United States." I assumed that since it had asked me for my name and voting-address at the time I registered, that it was going to somehow use that to verify my status as registered voter, but there was no obvious way to check on the Web site as to whether this had happened in my case or was still in-progress or had been abandoned.
.
On Twitter, I asked @AmericansElect and they replied to me that Americans Elect hasn't yet set up any way to verify voter registration, and I should give them some time to get that done. I gave them until 2012.March, when I still hadn't gotten any e-mail regarding either my registration on the Web site nor the process of verifying my voter registration, and then I asked @AmericansElect again, and this time I was told I need to log into their Web site. But their Web site required a PIN for login, and I had never been assigned any PIN, so I couldn't log in. @AmericansElect said I should reset my PIN. I tried that, and on 2012.Mar.11 I got another e-mail. It included a URL which was supposed to be for resetting my password. I went to that URL, but there was no way to reset my password. I complained to @AmericansElect but never got a response.
.
On 2012.May.19 I got impatient with the lack of any response from Americans Elect in regard to the above questions, so I started to complain again. First I browsed @AmericansElect and found this tweet dated 2012.May.16:
We're asking for your feedback -- How do you think we should move forward? http://ow.ly/aVB2a
Well obviously they have an urgent pending issue from last November, namely that I registered back then but they haven't yet set up any way for me to do anything towards nominating a candidate, such as no way yet to verify my voter registration, no way yet for me to log into their Web site as a candidate, so obviously they must get that fixed before they even consider any further actions towards having me nominate and/or vote for a candidate. I also tried the link in their tweet, and found problems there too. So I tweeted these replies:
#1: Last November @AmericansElect sent me e-mail "Thanks for becoming an Americans Elect Delegate!" but I haven't yet been able to get a PIN.
#2: ow.ly/aVB2a = http://t.co/OlmoEmAx is totally broken, says I need to log in but doesn't provide any way to do that. @AmericansElect
.
I also noticed that @aerynkelly had tweeted a recommendation for Americans Elect:
Not familiar with Americans Elect? I highly recommend you check it out. http://bit.ly/e1Kn3m wish we had something like this for #MEPolitics
so I tweeted this reply:
In November I signed up as a delegate, and got confirmation of my registration, but no info how to participate. @aerynkelly @AmerElectSW
.
I got this two-part response back:
#1: @CalRobert Click on "sign up" in the top right hand side of the page. Our message board is powered by GetSatisfaction, so...
#2: @CalRobert ...you have to create an account. Thanks for your participation!
.
I sent these replies:
#1: On www.AmericansElect.org I don't see any mention of "sign up", so what page is @AmericansElect talking about?
#2: Last November when I registered as a delegate, got e-mail confirming that fact, how is that not same as creating an account? @americanselect

.
Meanwhile, back on 2012.May.19 11, shortly after tweeting my three questions/complaints, I also sent this e-mail to info@AmericansElect.org summarizing my 5-6 months of frustration.
On 2012.May.21 I got this reply from support@americanselect.org.
On 2012.May.21 19 I sent this e-mail back to support@americanselect.org.
As of 2012.May.22 20:09, as I finish compiling all the notes above, I haven't yet gotten a reply to either the e-mail I sent yesterday nor today's tweets.
My tentative conclusion at this point is that Americans Elect is a scam, lying through their teeth that it would allow ordinary people such as myself a way to nominate a candidate, when in fact they have a secret nomination process that isn't open to anyone except their cronies. At least one other person agrees with me: d...@gone.com
Now please consider the alternative I set up myself last year: In NewEco (click on the portal, which is the live online system). I allow anyone anywhere (providing they have Web access, even from a cell-phone, and providing that they can read+type English text) to nominate a candidate and then to vote for any combination of already-nominated candidates. Voting is weighted per the amount of labor the voter donates. (Money is not allowed, only human labor.) Although voting for in the actual election ought to be by citizens of the USA, I see no reason why not to allow anyone anywhere to vote for who gets on the ballot, since our President controls the biggest military power in the world which affects everyone on Earth.
To vote for a candidate for President: Go to the portal, create a new account (which requires filling in a missing word to show that you are a human), then log in, then earn some funds by doing some work for NewEco (at present the only way to earn funds is to answer more missing-word questions), then go to Surveys, and select the option for POTUS, then either apply some of your funds to some candidate already nominated or nominate one of your own.
