Steve owes a writeup! -- Pictures by Steve
Decided not to send out a notice since it was going to be a long hike with a ton of elevation and lots of contingency plans if things turned out badly. But it had some cool pictures, so I'll log it. 28 miles with 8k ft of elevation gain--you should have been there!
Rocky Ridge from new (to me) use trail
Mt. Diablo from Schlieper Rock
The butterfly Mariposa lilies were plentiful -- one of the few wildflowers I can identify
Discovery Peak -- highest point in Alameda County
Heading down a trail/road I've been wanting to do for over a decade
Fuzz from nearby trees made the side of the road look snowy
Did the tree fall before or after the fire?
Melted aluminum
Taking a break on Mt. Lewis, the 8th highest point in Santa Clara County
Black Mountain, the 4th highest point in Santa Clara County
Baby Peak ahead. . .
Baby Peak summit is very much like Goat Rock if no one ever visited Goat Rock
The highest point on Beartrap Ridge is the next goal
Need more information. Exploding mines or fall-in-a-hole mines?
Old Camp
Old Camp
Baby Peak from the other side
One of the two contenders for highest point on Beartrap Ridge, the 12th highest point in Santa Clara County
A friend on the hike who seemed to tolerate the heat better than I did
