Statistical Resources
What follows is a shortened list of statistical resources
that can be useful in analyzing basketball the way I do.
A more thorough list of resources, some of which
are very specific and some of which are pretty general,
is given here.
NBA Statistics
- My '96 Numbers
- www.nba.com. The NBA's official
location. They like advertising it; I guess I'll help.
- ESPNET NBA has good
information, including daily boxes, but the premium pages (costing a
few bucks a month) have a lot more than the public pages. (Gee, another
advertisement for someone else's commercial site! You'd think they
were paying me.)
-
CBS SportsLine gave me a shirt, but they have a pretty good site anyway.
- Doug Steele has some
of the best NBA stats freely available, though they aren't official.
Women's Pro Basketball Statistics
- My
WNBA '97 Stats include all normal statistics and my analytical
tools for the WNBA inaugural season, including ranking of offensive
and defensive players.
Men's College Basketball Statistics
Women's College Basketball Statistics
Other Basketball Statistics
Infodesporto is
Portugal's sports site. I don't read Portuguese, but this site is still useful
for doing analysis of overseas leagues. Overall, the site is very good-looking
and well-conceived.
