He married Rachel V. Hewitt, Nov 19 1878, Lyon County, Kansas.e    (Viola R. Hewitt)b    Rachel was born Jun - 1859, Iowa.f,b

Note brother Franklin married a Mary L. Hewett (relationship unknown).

Rachel and daughter were shown in the 1880 census (Jun 8 1880), living or staying with Nathan's parents in Trego County, Kansas:f

Hinshaw, Bertha W., granddaughter, age 8 months, born Sep 1879 in Kansas; father born in Indiana; mother born in Iowa.
Nathan's whereabouts in 1880 are unknown.    If he was then working for a railroad (as he later did) then he might have been traveling and not enumerated.g

At Cherry Grove MM on 9-14-1889, Nathan was granted a certificate to Trego MM, Kansas49 Note that this was ten years after Nathan's family had moved to Kansas (apparently they were requesting a certificate of removal from Cherry Grove MM in order to join Trego MM).

Hinshaw, Bertha N., daughter, age 20, born Sept 1879 in Kansas; father born in Indiana; mother born in Iowa; occupation: stenographer.
Hinshaw, Luella S., daughter, age 19, born May 1881 in Kansas; father born in Indiana; mother born in Iowa.
Hinshaw, Janette B., daughter, age 17, born Jan 1883 in Kansas; father born in Indiana; mother born in Iowa; attended school 9 months.
Hinshaw, Eva E., daughter, age 15, born Mar 1885 in Kansas; father born in Indiana; mother born in Iowa; attended school 9 months.

Rachel died before Apr 19 1910.c    (Apparently approximately 1904).c

Nathan Mills Hinshaw died Jan 24 1917, Sedalia, Pettis County, Missouri; age 59; buried Jan 26 1917, Crown Hill Cemetery.d

Nathan apparently never remarried.    His daughter Bertha was the informant for his death certificate.d
