He married Abigail Allen, 1804.1,13 Abigail, daughter of John Allen & Rachel Stout, was born Cane Creek MM, Orange County, North Carolina.1

He then married Phebe Allen, 11-8-1810, Cane Creek MM, North Carolina.1,15,16 Phebe, daughter of John Allen & Rachel Stout, was born 11-29-1789, Cane Creek MM, Orange County, North Carolina.1,3,17
Note that Jacob remarried his sister-in-law - Phebe was Abigail's sister.
The old family bible of Chester Edward Hinshaw also shows a daughter Elizabeth, born in 1822 (the same year other records show for son Thomas), with son Thomas born in 1827.10
Jacob A. Hinshaw died Oct 5 1826, buried Darlington IOOF Cemetery, Darlington, Franklin Township, Montgomery County, Indiana.1,14
At Holly Spring MM on 2-18-1832, "Phebe & family" were granted a certificate to White Water MM, Indiana.1
At Whitewater MM (Indiana) on 5-23-1832, Phebe & family were received on a certificate from Holly Spring MM, N.C.; endorsed to Cherry Grove MM. Note that Phebe was received and endorsed through to Cherry Grove together with her daughter-in-law Asenath (Hodgin) Hinshaw.18
At Cherry Grove MM on 6-9-1832, Phebe and Nathan, John, Allen [sic], Elijah, Solomon, Enos, Rechel [sic], Thomas J., Hannah, & Jacob (children of Phebe) were received on a certificate from Holly Spring MM, N.C., endorsed by Whitewater MM.3
At Cherry Grove MM on 4-21-1836, Phebe remarried to Jonathan Willis of Randolph County, Indiana, son of Joel & Hannah Willis.3,19
Phebe later remarried again to Jeremiah Cox Jr., son of Jeremiah Cox Sr., one of the founders of Richmond, Indiana.6,20
Phebe died 1869, buried Darlington IOOF Cemetery, Darlington, Franklin Township, Montgomery County, Indiana.2,13,14
