HOWARD CLAYTON HENSHAW
Howard Clayton Henshaw, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away at his home on Monday, October 23, 2000. He was 75 years of age.
He was born on September 10, 1925 in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Marvin & Amanda Harper Henshaw.
He moved to Spokane, WA as a child and there was raised and attended school.
Howard served his country in the U.S. Navy for 2 years during WW II. He returned to the Spokane area where he worked as a general contractor, specializing in electrical work for many years.
He was united in marriage to Grethe Gronnebek in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho in 1961, and they made their home in Spokane until moving to Sedro-Woolley in late 1992.
Howard was a CB/Ham radio operator, enjoyed painting and firing ceramics, was an avid fisherman and member of the Wildcat Steelhead Club and also was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife Grethe at the family home in SedroWoolley; 2 daughters: Billie Sly of Sedro-Woolley and Karen Smith of Mount Vernon; 4 grandsons: Eric Sly, Kevin, Terry & Ricky Smith; 1 sister, Mary Ollialia; and 2 brothers: Jim & Ed Henshaw all of Spokane; also several great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, Patrick L. Henshaw, a Marines Green Beret who died in Vietnam in 1968.
At his request there will be no funeral services.
Memorials to Skagit Valley Kidney Center of Skagit Hospice are suggested.
Cremation conducted under direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.

GRETHE MARIE HUNN HENSHAW
Grethe Marie Hunn Henshaw, 85, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away at her home on Wednesday December 3, 2003.
She was born on July 16, 1918 in Copenhagen, Denmark, the daughter of Jeppe & Christine (Hald) Gronnebek.
In 1925 the family came to the United States, settling in Spokane, WA where Grethe was raised and attended school.
She made her home in Opportunity, WA and she worked as a head bookkeeper for the Albertson's Grocery Stores in Spokane for many years.
In 1961 she was united in marriage to Howard Henshaw in Couer d' Alene, Idaho and they made their home in Spokane until coming to Sedro-Woolley in 1992. She had been a member of the Danish Lodge # 117 in Spokane.
She is survived by her daughters: Karen Smith and her husband Dick of Mount Vernon, WA and Billie Sly of Sedro-Woolley, WA; 4 grandsons: Kevin, Terry & Rick Smith and Eric Sly; 4 greatngranddaughters: Samantha, Stephanie, Felicia and Hannah Smith; 1 great-grandson, Austin Smith; several nieces and nephews; and a sister, Gerda Busch of Seattle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard in 2000 and a brother, Jeppe Gronnebek. The family wishes to thank Tim with Skagit Hospice, and Kim, a coordinator with Meals on Wheels, and their staff for all of their care and assistance towards Grethe.
At Grethe's request there will be no funeral services. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
