Born Nov 21 1908, Hamilton County, Indiana.^3,4,5,6,7,8  No birth certificate at birth; delayed birth certificate issued Mar 4 1941.⁴  

On Nov 27 1936 Melvin, age 28, was living at 3½ East Side Square, Macomb, McDonough County, Illinois.  He was employed by the Globe American Corporation of Macomb.⁵  

He married Florence McElroy, Feb 7 1931, Arcadia, Indiana.^1,9  Florence, daughter of Ralph E. + Iva McElroy, was born May 8 1908, Reelsville, Putnam County, Indiana.⁹  

Florence died Mar 19 1933.⁹  

Florence's obituary was published in the "Kokomo Tribune" (Kokomo, Indiana) on Monday, March 20, 1933⁹ (see scan below).  

He then married Juanita Glass.¹  

Juanita deserted the family, relocating and later remarried.¹  

Melvin was a manufacturing inspector.¹  

In 1954 Melvin was living in Moline, Rock Island County, Illinois.¹⁰  

Melvin Clifford Hanshew died Nov 25 1982, Coal Valley, Rock Island County, Illinois; buried Greenview Memorial Gardens, Rock Island County, Illinois.^3,6,11  Medical: Melvin died from "cancer of the lung with metastasis to brain".¹¹
