He married Synthia Ann Duskin9,10,11,17 [Synthia Ann Duskins9,10,17, Cynthia Ann Duskin3,11], Jan 26 18629,10,11,17, Randolph County, North Carolina9,10,11,17.  Synthia, daughter of Jeremiah Duskin & Dorcas Trogden, was born about 1836, North Carolina.11,18  

A marriage bond was recorded for Samuel M. Hinshaw & Synthia Ann Duskins on January 23, 1862, Randolph County, North Carolina.  They were married three days later by Alfred Julian, J.P.9,19  

Synthia died Jul 24 1868, buried Genoa Cemetery, Monroe, Wayne County, Iowa.20  

Samuel lived in Parsons, Labette County, Kansas.3

Rhoda was the widow of James Lewis Doss,1,8 by whom she had one son, James Lewis Doss, Jr.8
