He married Mary Ann Lewis1,3,4,10 [Mary Ann Sewes2,5], Nov 3 18231,3,4,10, Worcester County, Massachusetts1,3,4,10. Mary, daughter of Nathaniel Lewis & Lucy Shaw, was born Jul 29 1806, Hallowell, Kennebec County, Maine.4,11
John engaged in the wholesale drug business in Boston as a member of the firm Henshaw, Ward & Co., from which he retired prior to his death.4 In 1843 John and family moved to Cambridge, Massachusetts, but continued his business at 37 India Street, Boston.2
Mary died Jan 18 1844, Middlesex County, Massachusetts; buried Walnut Avenue Lot 275, Mount Auburn Cemetery, 580 Mount Auburn Street, Cambridge, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.4,11

John authored "History of Henshaw Families from Scotland to Year 1853".2
John was the executor of his brother David's estate. Shortly after his brother's death, John replied on behalf of his brother to a letter received from James W. Henshaw of Virginia.13 This letter contains a great deal of Henshaw history and genealogy.
