Born May 28 1862, Perth, New Brunswick.^a,b,c,d

He married Harriett Bartlett, Jan 7 1888.^c

Harriett died Oct 2 1888.^c

He then married Ida Lillian Sanford, Sep 2 1890.^c,d,e    Ida, daughter of Richard Harding Sanford & Rebecca Potter, was born May 23 1861.^c

Ida died Apr 24 1891, at sea on her husband's ship "Syanara"; buried at sea 225 miles from Cape Rio, Brazil.^c,e

On Sep 15 1891, in Annapolis County, Nova Scotia, Letters of Administration for the estate of "Ida L. Henshaw (formerly Ida L. Sanford), late of Bear River, married woman", were granted to Herbert A. Henshaw, "husband, of Bear River, master mariner" (Estate Folio H155, 1891).    Will book page 181 further records "died at sea 24 Apr 1891".^e

He then married Phoebe Helena Lovely, Nov 14 1892.^a,f,c    Phoebe was born Aug 12 1869.^a

About 1894 Herbert moved to New York City, where he was a seaman.^b    He became a U.S. citizen.^b

On Aug 15 1934 Herbert and siblings arrived at the Port of Boston on the S.S. Yarmouth, having sailed from Yarmouth, Nova Scotia:^g

Herbert Alexender Henshaw died Sep 15 1947, Sailor's Snug Harbor Hospital Ward #9, Sailor's Snug Harbor, Staten Island, New York; buried Sep 18 1947, Sailor's Snug Harbor Cemetery, plot #16, row #10, grave #17.^b,i    Herbert died from arteriosclerotic heart disease.^b
