Pauline Hinshaw Waddell Neas, 92, of Wellington Place of Johnson City, died Friday

She was a 37-year member of First Baptist Church of Greeneville, where she was a member of the Carianna Sunday School Class, the Young-At-Heart Singers, and the Day Baptist Women group of Women on Mission.  

Mrs. Neas was a member of Greeneville Federation of Women Clubs and the Tennessee Federation of Women Clubs.  

She was an active member and held various offices in the Greeneville Christian Women's Club, the Greeneville Home Demonstration Club, the Andrew Johnson Club, Hoe 'n' Hope Garden Club, and the Order of the Eastern Star.  

Mrs. Neas spent one summer volunteering at the Narramore Christian Foundation in Southern California.  

She was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader.  

Mrs. Neas was named Outstanding Woman of Greene County for the year 1971-1972 by the Greeneville Jaycettes.  

Her family noted, "She enjoyed cooking and won prizes over the years for her original recipes.  

"She was an innovative wedding caterer, having started the creation of grooms cakes, the gift tea, and the rice trees in this area.  She also initiated the movie birthday party trend."  

Mrs. Neas was the widow of Carl C. Waddell and Hugh Neas.  

She is survived by her two daughters and a son-in-law: Carlene and Isiah Foushee of Silver Spring, Md., and Mrs. Robert J. (Charlotte) Burnett of Grass Valley, Calif.; four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild, all of Maryland and California; a brother and sister-in-law: J.M. and Cara Mae Henshaw of San Antonio, Texas; a sister-in-law: Anna Waddell Critselous of Greene County; a brother-in-law: Roscoe Waddell of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.  

She was preceded in death by her parents: William E. and Hattie Leola Murr Hinshaw; a brother: Wayne E. Hinshaw; and a sister: Calla H. Johnson.  

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.  

The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in the funeral home chapel.  The Rev. Dr. David Green will officiate.  

Interment will follow in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens.  

Pallbearers will be Roger Whitaker, Terry Webb, Mark Reynolds, Robert Gay, Guy Davis, and Gene Gaby.  

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 99, Greeneville, TN 37744.
