Jesse was a World War I veteran.1,3,8 Jesse Henshaw, age 22, registered for the World War I draft in Okfuskee County, Oklahoma. He declared he was born May 26th, 1895 in Bennington, Oklahoma, and he was then a resident of Okemah, Oklahoma where he was single and a farm laborer employed by a Jim Turley. He was recorded as medium height, blue eyes, light hair.4
