At Pleasant Hill MM on 9-6-1862, Nathan Hinshaw of White River MM, Indiana, was declared "at liberty to marry" Rachel E. Jones.    On the same date, Rachel was declared at liberty to marry Nathan.50

At Pleasant Hill MM on 11-1-1862, Rachel E. Hinshaw was granted a certificate to White River MM, Indiana.50

At White River MM on 12-6-1862, Rachel E. Hinshaw was received on a certificate from Pleasant Hill MM.49

At White River MM on 6-4-1864, Nathan & wife Rachel were granted a certificate to Pleasant Hill MM, Indiana.49

At Pleasant Hill MM on 7-2-1864, Nathan and wife Rachel E. were received on a certificate from White River MM, Indiana.50

At Pleasant Hill MM on 5-5-1866, Nathan & wife Rachel E. and family were granted a certificate to White River MM, Indiana.50

At White River MM on 7-7-1866, Nathan & wife Rachel & minor child Alonzo were received on a certificate from Pleasant Hill MM.49

Nathan and family were shown in the 1870 census (Jul 11 1870), White River Township, Randolph County, Indiana:h

Nathan Hinshaw, age 28, born in Indiana; farmer; $4000 real estate; $878 personal property.
Rachel E. Hinshaw, female age 25, born in Ohio, keeping house.
Charles Hinshaw, age 5, born in Indiana.
Zerina Hinshaw, age 2, born in Indiana.
Thomas Hinshaw, age 67, born in North Carolina; retired farmer; $3000 personal property.
Living next door in 1870 was the family of Solomon Hinshaw.i

At White River MM on 5-6-1876, Nathan & wife Rachel & minor children Charles Alonzo, Zarina Estella & George B. were granted a certificate to Peace MM, Kansas.49

Nathan and family were shown in the 1880 census, Sterling Township, Rice County, Kansas:j

Hinshaw, Rachel E., wife, age 34, born in Ohio; parents born in Ohio; keeping house.
Hinshaw, Charles A., son, age 15, born in Indiana; father born in North Carolina [sic]; mother born in Ohio.
Hinshaw, Estella, daughter, age 12, born in Indiana; father born in North Carolina [sic]; mother born in Ohio.
Hinshaw, George B., son, age 6, born in Indiana; father born in North Carolina [sic]; mother born in Ohio.
Hinshaw, Ernest L., son, age 19 [presumably months], born in Kansas; father born in North Carolina [sic]; mother born in Ohio.

Nathan and Rachel were apparently divorced or separated (this was frowned upon, but not actually prohibited, by the Quakers).    Rachel remarried c1886 to a -- Muchbaugh,d then widowed before 1910.k    However in Rachel's funeral records she was shown as wife of Nathan Henshaw, with no mention of a divorce;b she was also shown in the 1910 census as Emma Henshaw.k    Rachel died Nov 2 1920, Webb City, Jasper County, Missouri; buried Mt. Hope Cemetery, Webb City, Missouri.l

He then married Diannah Peacock, 9-1-1888, Kansas.50    (Diana Peacock)50    (Dianna S. Peacock)50    Diannah, daughter of William+Phoebe Peacock, was born Mar - 1852, Indiana.50,c

Oak Ridge MM (Indiana) recorded on 9-1-1888: Nathan Hinshaw, LaCrosse, Kansas, son of Thomas & Hannah (Pickett), married Diannah Peacock in Kansas, "2nd marriage for both".50

At Oak Ridge MM (Indiana) on 11-15-1892, Nathan & wife Dianna S. and child Frances Willard were received on a certificate from LaCrosse MM, Kansas.50

At Oak Ridge MM on 10-17-1893, Nathan & Diana & daughter Frances Willard were granted a certificate to Fairmount MM, Indiana.50

At Fairmount MM on 10-18-1893, Nathan & Diannah and son [sic] Francis Willard were received on a certificate from Oak Ridge MM.50

At Oak Ridge MM on 7-17-1894, Nathan & Diana & daughter Frances Willard were received on a certificate from Fairmount MM.50

Nathan and family were shown in the 1900 census (Jun 21 1900), North Main St., Fairmount, Grant County, Indiana:c

Hinshaw, Dianna, wife, age 48, born Mch 1852 in Indiana; parents born in North Carolina; married 12 years; 2 children, 1 living.
Hinshaw, Frances W., daughter, age 8, born Aug 1891 in Indiana; parents born in Indiana; attended school.

At the same time ex-wife Rachel Emma had remarried and was shown in the 1900 census (Jun 13 1900) living with sons Ernest and Albert Roy on Dougherty Street, Carterville, Jasper County, Missouri:d
Muchbaugh, Emma, age 54, born Apr 1846 in Ohio; parents born in Ohio; married 14 years; 5 children, 5 living; owned home (mortgaged).
Henshaw, Ernest, son, age 21, born Oct 1878 in Kansas; father born in Indiana; mother born in Ohio; occupation: cigar maker.
Henshaw, Roy, son, age 19, born Mar 1881 in Kansas; father born in Indiana; mother born in Ohio; occupation: cigar maker.
Living in the same dwelling with Rachel in 1900 was the family of an Albert Jones,m probably Rachel's brother.n    Rachel was again shown in the 1910 census (Apr 16 1910), living with son Ernest in Carterville, Jasper County, Missouri:k

At Oak Ridge MM on 5-10-1905, Nathan & family were granted a certificate to Fairmount MM, Indiana.50

At Oak Ridge MM on 5-16-1905, Dianna S. & daughter Frances W. were granted a certificate to Fairmount MM.50

At Fairmount MM on 5-17-1905, Nathan and Diannah & daughter Frances Willard were received on certificates from Oak Ridge MM.50

Note that there appears to have been a divorce between Nathan & Rachel somewhere between 1881 and 1888.    Nathan & Rachel were shown together in the 1880 census, and child Albert Roy was born in 1881, but then Nathan remarried in 1888 to Diannah.    Rachel moved with her children from Kansas to Webb City, Jasper County, Missouri c1880s/90so (note also that none of Nathan & Rachel's children were shown in later Quaker records since they had moved away with Rachel).    In the 1920 census, Rachel was shown as "Emma Hinshaw" living with her son Ernest.e

Nathan Hinshaw died Jul 27 1907, West Fairmount, Grant County, Indiana; buried Park Cemetery.p    Nathan's obituary appeared in the Marion Daily Chronicle on Monday, July 29, 1907:p

DEATH OF N. HINSHAW
Nathan Hinshaw died at his home in West Fairmount at 11 o'clock Saturday night after a lingering illness with dropsy and complications.    He was 65 years of age.    A widow and one daughter survive him.    Funeral services were conducted at the Friends church at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon.    Interment was made at Park cemetery.

Diannah died Sep 23 1919, Fairmount MM, Indiana; age 66.50,q

Diana's obituary was published in "The American Friend" on January 15, 1920 (page 71).q
