He married Mary Hastings, Feb 18 1808, Randolph County, North Carolina.3,5,6 Mary, daughter of Joshua Hastings & Ann Edgerton, was born Jun 24 1776, Wayne County, North Carolina.7
A marriage bond was recorded for John Hinshaw & Mary Hastings on February 18, 1808, Randolph County, North Carolina.8
John Hinshaw died Feb 1 1810.3
In the 1820 census of Lawrence County, Indiana an unidentified Polly Hinshaw was recorded as head-of-household. It is unknown if this was Mary Hastings or some other Mary/Polly. However the LDS "Pedigree Resource File" (user submissions) has an entry submitted by Lyle Scholten of Gardnerville, Nevada which shows John Hinshaw & Mary Hastings were the parents of John Hinshaw #2327 of Lawrence County, Indiana.9 Although uncorroborated, this would be consistent with the appearance of Polly Hinshaw (Mary) in the 1820 census in Indiana.
