On Jun 5 1917 Enoch Ernest Hinshaw, age 22, registered for the World War I draft in Artesia, Eddy County, New Mexico. He declared he was born April 17 1895 in Jasper County, Iowa, and he was then residing in Artesia, New Mexico where he was a single, and a cowboy / ranch hand employed by Midwest Investment Co. in Chavez and Eddy counties. He was recorded as 6 feet tall, slender, blue eyes, light hair.7
Ernest was a World War I veteran.3 He enlisted May 28 1918 and served as a private in the U.S. Army until Jun 10 1919.9 He was recorded in all U.S. military and V.A. records as Enoch Ernest Hinshaw, an error made, according to family oral history, when he enlisted in the army.3
He married Annie Ruth Johnson.3,4,8 Annie was born Aug 7 19038 [Sep 5 19034, about 19052]. (She normally never used her first name Annie).3
Ernest lived in Glenwood, Arkansas.1 He was a World War I veteran.1,2,8
