Lola died Dec 12 1951, South Gate, Los Angeles County, California; age 22.4,6,7,8,9 Lola died from carbon monoxide poisoning in a motel room while awaiting Harvey's return from sea6,9 (see newspaper scans below).
Two years after Lola died, the family was again struck by tragedy when a fire occured in the apartment house where they were living. Son Donnis was killed in the fire, and Harvey and son Richard were also injured.2 Harvey filed a law suit against the apartment owners, as reported in the "Ogden Standard-Examiner" (Ogden, Utah) on Sunday, December 27, 19532 and on Sunday, March 7, 195410 (see scans below).
