Fred and Frances apparently divorced. Frances remarried to Terry Lee Steele.13 Francis died Sep 26 1966, at her home, Ghent, Raleigh County, West Virginia; age 47.6,14 Frances' obituary was published as follows:13
Mrs. Frances Eloise Steele, 47, of Ghent, died at 10:26 p.m. Monday at her residence following a long illness. Born Aug. 22, at Algonquin, she was a daughter of John Hankins of Rhodell and the late Vernie Young Hankins. She was a resident of Raleigh County for the past 25 years, Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband, Terry Lee, and five sons, Terry Jr., Roy and Eddie, all at home; Donnis E. Hanshaw of Ghent and John L. Hanshaw of South Carolina; three daughters, Mrs. Betty Jett and Mrs. Phyllis Slone, both of Indianapolis, Ind., and Mrs. Rosemary Scott of Aldie, Va.; one brother, Roy Hankins of Beckley; three sisters, Mrs. Christine McKinney of Stephenson, Mrs. Maxine O'Neal of Ghent and Mrs. Eleanor Hutton of Amigo and eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Thursday in the Ghent Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Henry Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The body will remain at the Calfee Funeral Home where friends may call after noon Wednesday. The body will be removed to the church one hour prior to funeral services.
