Born 5-31-1842, Holly Spring MM, North Carolina.1,2,3,4,5

She married Alson J. Bean.1,3,4,6,7  Alson, son of Thomas Bean & Dicey Cornelison, was born Jan 11 1851, Randolph County, North Carolina.8

Alson Bean was a woodworker.8

Children:4

Asa Elwood Bean, born Oct 11 1875.
Effie Millicent Bean, born Jun 10 1878, died Aug 15 1965; married Charlie Houston Craven.
Elvin Amos Bean, born Sep 23 1880; he and his wife kept a store in the Piney Grove community near Richland Creek, N.C. 9

Hannah E. Hinshaw died Mar 20 1881.4

Note that Hannah died less than a year after her youngest son, Elvin, was born.  Children Effie and Elvin were then reared in the home of Hannah's brother, Thomas Hinshaw.9,10

Son Elvin was described in a biography of Hannah's brother Thomas and his wife Mary Barker Hinshaw:9,10

Unfortunately, Elvin Bean failed to grow normally.  His height never exceeded three and a half feet.  This handicap did not affect his mental capacities, and he lived a full, active life.  He married a woman of similar stature, and they lived together many happy years.  Far and near he was known as "Little Bean."

Alson remarried after Hannah died - he married a total of three times.  His third wife was Margaret Hammel.8  Alson resided at 1002 W. Lee Street in Greensboro, N.C.8

Alson died Jul 5 1921, Greensboro, Guilford County, North Carolina; buried Holly Spring Meeting Cemetery.8

Family folklore is that Alson's third wife, Margaret Hammel, was from New York and she died on the train when returning there after the death of Alson.4
