He married Lucy Ann Estes, Sep 4 1845, Clay County, Missouri.6  Lucy, daughter of Thomas Harris Estes & Anna Nowlin, was born May 28 1828, Missouri.1,2,3,9,10  

In the obituary of Francis' grandson, Francis Henshaw Trimble (son of daughter Sarah Ann Frances Henshaw), it states:1

"His grandfather, Francis Henshaw, came from Virginia to Clay County about 1836, and entered into 836 acres of government land in Clay County.  He also was interested in law, and applied himself to a book entitled "Law and Lawyers," published in 1841, ..."

On Jul 1 1845 Francis Henshaw purchased three parcels of land in Clay County, Missouri (124.71 acres, 85.15 acres, and 41.91 acres).7  He was described in two of these records as "Francis Henshaw of Clay County, Missouri",7 but in the third record he was described (perhaps in error) as "Francis Henshaw of Jackson County, Missouri",7
