He declared he was born January 14 1887 in Beaver Crossing, Nebraska, and was then residing in Fountain, [El Paso County,] Colorado where he was single and a self-employed farmer. He was recorded as short, medium build, brown eyes, brown hair.³

Leona and family were shown in the 1930 census (Apr 10 1930), living with her parents at 704 Royce [unclear] Street, Colorado Springs, El Paso County, Colorado:²
