He married Nellie Lee Martin, about 1908.^1,3,4,6,7 Nellie, daughter of Joseph Martin & Eugenia Keziah "Duny" Gibbs, was born Jul 24 1886, Illinois.^1,3,6,7,8

Grover only had a 2nd grade education, but Nellie helped him in studying to pass the test required to become a coal mine engineer.²

Grover and family were shown in the 1910 census (Apr 15 1910), Stonefort Township, Saline County, Illinois:³

On Sep 12 1918 Grover Henshaw, age 34, registered for the World War I draft in Herrin, Williamson County, Illinois. He declared he was born Feb 5 1884, and he was then residing in Energy, Williamson County, Illinois where he was an engineer employed by the Taylor Coal Co. of Herrin. He declared his nearest relative was Nellie Henshaw of Energy. He was recorded as tall, stout, brown eyes, black hair.⁵

Grover and family were shown in the 1920 census (Jan 2 1920), Herrin Township, Williamson County, Illinois:¹

He then married Lulia Ethel (Hudson) Maxwell⁹ [Lulia Ethel Hudson⁹], 1949⁹. Lulia, daughter of Richard Hudson & Sarah Jones, was born Nov 28 1881, Union County, Illinois.⁹

Lulia's obituary was published in "The Southern Illinoisan" (Carbondale, Illinois) on Thursday, July 19, 1962⁹ (see scan below).
