Newt had been previously married,^2,5 1903, to a Dora Cunningham.⁸ During World War I Newt had served in the U.S. Army.^5,11

He declared he was born 2-28-1883 in Center, Arkansas, and was then residing in Imboden, Lawrence County, Arkansas where he worked at home on his farm. He declared his relative/contact was Susie Hyslip of Imboden. He was recorded as 5'8" tall, 199 lbs., brown eyes, gray hair, light complexion.¹⁷

Louis died Jun 27 1960, Poplar Bluff, Butler County, Missouri; buried Woodman of the World Cemetery [Memorial Park Cemetery], East Prarie, Mississippi County, Missouri.^8,10
