Thomas and family migrated to Lawrence County, Arkansas about 1895.a    According to family oral history, Thomas (whose nickname was "Tom Cat") got into a fight with another man in the 1890s in the Paint Rock, Alabama area.    The fight might have been over a woman.    According to family folklore, either a knife or a gun might have been involved, and Thomas might have killed the other man.    In any case, Thomas and a brother (probably Jacob Robert) left Alabama and moved to Lawrence County, Arkansas.j
Thomas and family were shown in the 1900 census (Jun 23 1900), Strawberry Township, Lawrence County, Arksansas:h

Hanah died Dec 25 1927, age 74.177    According to family oral history, Hanah died tragically from extensive burns.    She was staying with her son James Warren and his wife Ethel.    Warren and Ethel were going out a Christmas eve party, but Hanah didn't feel well and therefore didn't attend and stayed at Warren's house and went to bed.    After Warren and Ethel left, Hanah got up to stir the fireplace, lost her balance, and fell into the fire, burning her hands and body.    She died the next day, Christmas day 1927.    Her death certificate states "Burned - Seized with an attack of vertigo and fell in fireplace."j,u
