He married Essie Fannie Gold, Oct 17 1914, Chaffee, Scott County, Missouri.1,13,14  Essie, daughter of John William Gold & Birdie/Bertie Bell Vaughn, was born Oct 17 1896, Kentucky.1,2,5,14,15,16,17,18  

On Jun 5 1917 Ira Hinshaw, age 22, registered for the World War I draft in St. Louis, Missouri.  He declared he was born Sept. 8 1894 in Hickman, Kentucky, and was then residing at 2911 S. B'dway, St. Louis, Missouri where he had a wife and two children and was a steel worker employed by Northern Coal Co. of St. Louis.  He claimed an exemption "only reason to support wife & 2 children".  He was recorded as tall, slender, dark brown eyes, black hair.10

Essie remarried to John Cylvester "J.C." Cherry,14 Oct 26 1941, Blytheville, Mississippi County, Arkansas;16,17 he was the father of William Edgar "Ed" Cherry who married Essie's daughter Willa.  Essie died Jun 26 1970, Blytheville, Mississippi County, Arkansas; buried Elmwood Cemetery, Blytheville, Mississippi County, Arkansas.1,14,16,17,18  

He then married Myra M. Rankin13 [Mary (Mara) Rankin3, Almyra Rankin12], Dec 22 193413, Hillsboro, Jefferson County, Missouri13.  Myra was born about 1902, Illinois.12,13

Myra died 1957, buried East St. Louis, St. Clair County, Illinois.3,21,22  

For 15 years after his retirement Ira lived with the family of his niece Mildred Jane Davis Collard.  

Ira Isaac Hinshaw died Aug 16 1969, at the home of Harold Collard, St. Louis, St. Louis County, Missouri; buried in the Davis-Collard plot, Woodlawn Cemetery, Poplar Bluff, Butler County, Missouri.3,9
