William Hinshaw3 [William Henshaw4].

Born 18373,5 [about 18392], McMurry County, Tennessee3,5.

William was shown age 13 in the 1850 census, Williamson County, Illinois.5  He is shown born in Tennessee, although the Hinshaw-Henshaw book states he was born in McMurry County, Tennessee yet there is no such place.

He married Delitha Deaton4,6 [Martha -2], Dec 16 18574,6, Williamson County, Illinois4,6.  Note: this marriage record is not known for certain to refer to this particular William Henshaw/Hinshaw, but it is believed to be this William since this is the only known Hinshaw/Henshaw family living in the 1850s in Williamson County, Illinois.

William and family were shown in the 1860 census, Williamson County, Illinois:2

Living next door in 1860 was the household of William's widowed mother;7 also nearby was William's brother Hugh.8

A William Hinshaw, from Williamson County, Illinois (probably this William) served during the Civil War in Company G, 120th Illinois Infantry.9,10  He enlisted as a private on Aug 22 1862.10  A Charles E. Hinshaw, also from Williamson County, joined the same unit9 on the very same date10 (this was very probably William's brother Charles).
