During World War I, Walter enlisted in the Air Corps and was mustered out in 1918 as a lieutenant.1 On Jun 5 1917 Walter Anderson Henshaw, age 24, registered for the World War I draft in East St. Louis, St. Clair County, Illinois. He declared he was born February 6th 1893 in Carterville, Illinois, and he was then single and residing at 6 [unclear] W. 9th St., East St. Louis, Illinois. He was recorded as medium height, medium build, brown eyes, dark hair.10
He married Dorothy Lois Walsh, about 1920.1,2,3 Dorothy, daughter of Phillip R. + Florence Walsh, was born Aug 4 1901, Emerson, Dixon County, Nebraska.2,3,8,9,13
