Sardinian, and was then a resident of Montreal and a citizen of Canada, occupied as a telegraph operator.    He declarded he had never before been in the U.S., and was destined to join a friend, J.M. Reilly, 214 Majestic Bldg.. Detroit.    He declared his nearest relative was his father, Richard Hinshaw, of 186 Mance St., Montreal.    He was recorded as 5'3" tall, fair complexion, blue eyes, brown hair, in good health, not deformed or crippled, not a polygamist, and not an anarchist.f,g
Joseph was a telegrapher in the Northwest Territories before settling, at first, in Toronto, and later in Detroit, Michigan, where he joined the stock exchange as a telegrapher.    Achieving physical stature of only 5'3", and an 8th grade education, he nevertheless reached high levels of success, most notably, he served two terms on the Board of Goveners of the New York Stock Exchange in the 1940's.a
