HINSHAW, SR., ROBERT BRUCE passed away February 8, 2013 after a brief illness and after a long and joyful life. Robert was born June 13, 1923 in Detroit, Michigan and from growing up in the beautiful woods of Bloomfield Hills in suburban Detroit, to cruising the seas of the South Pacific with the Navy's SeaBees on the SS Cape Bon during World War II, to graduating from pharmacy school at the University of Mississippi, to working in his drug store in Yazoo City, Mississippi, to enjoying retirement on the golf courses of Mississippi and Alabama, and enjoying his last few years at the Danberry retirement community in Birmingham, Robert enjoyed and appreciated all he had. He Is preceded in death by his wonderful, loving wife of 46 years Barbara Jean Hinshaw, his parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Hinshaw, his brothers Joseph, Andy, Richard, and John, his sister Catherine, and daughters Elizabeth and Duaine. He is survived by his son Robert Jr (Patricia) of Birmingham, his daughter Primrose (Mike) Dikeman of Pell City, Alabama, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A visitation and funeral service will be held Friday, February 15th, 2013 from 11 to 12 [visitation from 10 to 11] with a lunch reception following at Our Lady of the Valley Church in Shelby County and final internment will be at Glenwood cemetery in Yazoo City, Mississippi. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff at the Danberry retirement home and all the doctors and nurses at St. Vincent's Hospital for the great and loving care they provided for him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made to the St. Vincent's Foundation at www.stvhs.com.
