Gordon Wilfred Hanshaw, 60, Dartmouth, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 5, 2007, at home surrounded by his loving family. Born Sept. 13, 1946, in Kentville, he was a son of the late Wilfred and Eileen (Mainprize) Hanshaw. Gordon served with the Canadian militia formany years before beginning his career with EDS right until his death. He was a member of Blessed Pope John XXIII Roman Catholic Church for many years. He enjoyed reading, computers and a great debate on any issue including politics and history. Gordon is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 23 years, Stella Marie Gallant; daughter, Renee (Corey) Strickland, Cole Harbour; sons, Greg (Jenine) Gallant, Singapore, David (Megan) Gallant, Lake Echo; children from previous marriage, Allura and Kenneth Hanshaw; grandchildren, Autumn Leigh, Benjamin Gordon, Alicia, Jennie, Keegan Kiley; sister, Wileen Roy, Cole Harbour; brother, Philip (Lynda) Hanshaw, Cornwallis; several nieces and nephews. Arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, where at Gordon's request, there will be a private visitation for family from 2-4 p.m. today. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, in Blessed Pope John XXIII Roman Catholic Church, Colby Village, Fr. Paul Morris officiating. Interment in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. Reception to follow in Atlantic Funeral Home Reception Centre. If so desired, a donation in Gordon's memory to a charity of one's choice would be appreciated.
