Having Declared their
intentions of Marriage With Each other Before several Monthly Meetings
of the people Called Quakers at Cane Creek in
orange County and state abovesaid according to the good order
used amongst them and having
Consent of parents & parties Concerned their
sd proposals of Marriage Was allowed of By sd Meetings
Now these are to Certify
that for the full
accomplishing their sd Intentions this
seventeenth Day of the third Month in the year of our Lord 1791 the sd

Sarah Hinshaw
appeared in a publick Meeting
at Sandy Creek and the sd

By the hand Did in a solemn Manner openly Declare that he took
her the sd
Sarah Hinshaw
to be his Wife promising With the Lords assistance
to Be Unto her a true and faithfull Husband Until Death
should seperate them or Words to that Effect and then
and there in the same assembly she the sd
Sarah Hinshaw
did in Like Manner openly declare she took Him the sd
John Hammond
to be her husband promising With the Lords assistance to be unto him a
true and faithfull Wife Untill Death should seperate them or Words
to that purpose
And Moreover they the said John Hammond and Sarah Hinshaw she according to the Custom of Marriage assuming the Name of her Husband as a further Confirmation thereof did then and there to these presents set their Hands and We Being presents at the solemnization of the sd Marriage do as Witnesses there Unto subscribe our Names the day and year as above Written John Hammon
