In 1868 Mary's sister, Margaret Baumgarden Belt (wife of Frank Belt) died, leaving a three-week old infant, James Edgar "Jimmy" Belt (May 1 1868 - Apr 15 1957), who was then adopted into the Hanshew household and raised as their own child.3

Andrew L. Hanshew died Aug 18 1890, Dallas, St. Clair County, Missouri; buried King's Prairie Cemetery, near Gerster, St. Clair County, Missouri.4,7,12
After Andrew died Mary remarried to James W. "Bill" Mullennix.3 James had been previously married to Mary's sister, Sarah A. "Sally" Baumgarden, who had died in 1909.3

Mary died Jun 15 1923, at her home, north of Collins, St. Clair County, Missouri; buried next to Andrew, King's Prairie Cemetery, near Gerster, St. Clair County, Missouri.3
Mary's obituary was published in the "St. Clair County Democrat" on Jun 28 1923:7
Mary Baumgarden was born March 10, 1844 in Jenning county, Indiana and died at her home north of Collins June 15, 1923. She was married to Andrew L. Henshew March 4, 1857 and he died August 18, 1890. To this union were born four children, two boys and two girls; Viola who died in 1899, Izara, Ulysis and David. She was married again September 13, 1909 to James W. Mullinix and he died December 11, 1921. She joined the Baptist church in early life and lived a Christian life. She leaves to mourn their loss three children, one nephew, James Belt, one brother and one sister. She was buried in King's Prairie cemetery by the side of her first husband.
