A resident of Hammond, he died Wednesday, April 20, 2005, at North Oaks Medical Center. He was 73, born Thursday, March 3, 1932, in Blackhawk Township, Iowa. He worked for the federal and state governments and retired from the U.S. military after 22 years of service and also retired from the Driver's License Bureau. He was a former ROTC leader at Southeastern Louisiana University. He is survived by his wife, Kay Hinshaw; two sons, Ricky Hinshaw and Chucky Hinshaw, both of Hammond; two daughters-in-law, Terri Hinshaw and Marlene Hinshaw, both of Hammond; a sister, Rita Booher, Branson, Mo.; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norvel and Irene French Hinshaw; son, Richard "Dickie" Hinshaw; and sister, Mildred "Millie" Young. Visiting at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, April 22. Religious service at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Friday, conducted by the Rev. Louis Husser.

Satsuki "Kay" Hinshaw, 82 years old of Hammond, Louisiana, died Wednesday, July 30, 2008 in Richard Murphy Hospice House. Kay was born on Thursday, June 17, 1926 in Sendai-Shi, Japan. Mrs. Hinshaw worked as a seamstress in the Hammond area, having sewn costumes and uniforms for Southeastern Lionettes, dance teams, and for area high schools. She also did wedding work creating gowns and dresses. Surviving are 2 sons & daughters-in-law, Ricky and Terri Hinshaw of Hammond, Chucky and Marlene Hinshaw of Hammond; 6 grandchildren, Kelli and Bryan Hinshaw, Tyler and Victoria Hinshaw, Bradley Hinshaw and Kristen Worrel; Kay is also survived by and preceded in death by 11 siblings in Japan. She is preceded in death by husband, Robert "Bob" Hinshaw; son, Richard "Dickie" Hinshaw; parents, Shinjiro and Moto Kato. Friends will be received Friday, August 1, 2008, at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Services will be held in the funeral home chapel Friday, August 1, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Richard Murphy Hospice, 16013 Halbert Lane, Hammond LA., 70403
