Bannister was a widower,10 having previously been married to Nancy Carter, Dec 2 1824.3,12 Bannister Perrin was the uncle of John M. Barr who married Jane's sister, Sarah Jane Henshaw.10 The 1850 census shows that Bannister Perrin was living next door to Sarah Jane Henshaw Barr10 and probably came to know Jane through her visits with Sarah Jane.13
