He married Mary Susan Haybarger1,2,3,4,5,9,12,13,14,15,16,17,18 [Susan M. Haybarger7, Mary Ann Haybarger2,12], Nov 4 18411,2,3,4,5,9,12,13,14,15,16,17,18, McLean County, Illinois1,2,3,4,5,9,12,13,14,15,16,17,18.  Mary, daughter of Abraham (Abram) Haybarger & Mary Crowbarger, was born Jan 12 1824, Augusta County, Virginia.1,2,3,7,19  

Charles politically was a Whig supporter.  He was a Quaker, and Mary was a Methodist.  Note his children were apparently influenced in religion by Mary, and this may have been the last Quaker generation of this line, as his son Abraham was a practicing Methodist.2  

Charles Hinshaw died Jan 11 1849, McLean County, Illinois; buried Hinshaw Cemetery, near Danvers, McLean County, Illinois.1,11  Charles' gravestone reads "died Jan. 11, 1849 Aged 34 Y. 9M & 20D".2,7,19  

Widow Mary and family were shown in the 1850 census, Stout's Grove Township, McLean County, Illinois, as follows:3,20

Mary S. Hinshaw, age 25, born in Virginia; $1000 real estate.
Mary R. Hinshaw, age 6, born in Illinois.
Abraham J. Hinshaw, age 5, born in Illinois.
Charles L. C. Hinshaw, age 1, born in Illinois.
The 1850 census also shows a listing for a Mary Haybarger, age 50, with children at home in the age range of 13-233,20 - this was probably Mary's mother and siblings.  

Mary remarried on Mar 16 1851 to Benjamin Ayers, McLean County, Illinois.21,22  

Mary was once again widowed.  Widow Mary Haybarger Hinshaw Ayers was shown in the 1880 census (Jun 4 1880), Danvers Township, McLean County, Illinois:23

Ayers, Mary S., age 55, born in Virginia; both parents born in Virginia; widow; keeping house.
Hinshaw, Mary R., daughter, age 36, born in Illinois; father born in North Carolina; mother born in Virginia; single; works at home.
Miller, John, farm hand, age 16, born in Illinois; attended school.
Living next door in 1880 was her son Charles.24  Also living nearby was her other son Abraham Jay.25  

Mary died Mar 26 1883, McLean County, Illinois; buried in the Hinshaw Cemetery, near Danvers, McLean County, Illinois.1,7  Her gravestone reads "died Mar. 26, 1883 Aged 59 yrs 2 mos & 14 dys".2,19  

Susan's parents and three siblings are also buried in the Hinshaw Cemetery.19
