Jackson was shown in the 1860 census, living (or staying) in the household of an Elizabeth Charles in Greene Township, Lawrence County, Missouri:7

Elizabeth Charles, age 30, born in North Carolina; farming; $600 real estate; $200 personal property.
Sibella Jackson, age 40, born in North Carolina.
Jackson Hinshaw, age 24, born in North Carolina; farmer inmate; $100 personal property.

Jackson was a member of the Missouri State Militia2 (Company C, 76th Missouri Militia).5  

He married Mary Elizabeth Holder.2  Mary was born Nov 4 1842, Tennessee.2,3  

Dempsey Jackson Hinshaw died 1865, Missouri; buried plot 82, Stahl Cemetery, southwest of Miller, Lawrence County, Missouri.1,2  

After Jackson died, Mary remarried to a William Robinson,3,8 by whom she had at least two daughters, Tina and Fina Robinson3 (half-sisters to son William).  

In 1880 Mary E. Robinson applied for a Civil War Pension as widow of D.J. Hinshaw, veteran of Company C, 76th Missouri E.M.8

Robinson, Grant, son, age 12, born in Missouri; father born in New York; mother born in Canada; working on farm; attended school.
Robinson, Tina, daughter, age 5 months, born Dec [1879] in Missouri; father born in New York; mother born in Tennessee.
Robinson, Fina, daughter, age 5 months, born Dec [1879] in Missouri; father born in New York; mother born in Tennessee.
Henschaw, William J., stepson, age 18, born in Missouri; father born in North Carolina; mother born in Tennessee; works on farm.

Mary died Apr 27 1893, buried Daugherty/Daughtry Cemetery, South Greenfield, Dade County, Missouri.2
