Jackson was a member of the Missouri State Militia2 (Company C, 76th Missouri Militia).5

Dempsey Jackson Hinshaw died 1865, Missouri; buried plot 82, Stahl Cemetery, southwest of Miller, Lawrence County, Missouri.1,2
After Jackson died, Mary remarried to a William Robinson,3,8 by whom she had at least two daughters, Tina and Fina Robinson3 (half-sisters to son William).
In 1880 Mary E. Robinson applied for a Civil War Pension as widow of D.J. Hinshaw, veteran of Company C, 76th Missouri E.M.8
