William's marriage had been announced in the "Long Beach Independent" (Long Beach, California) on Thursday, September 8, 1938:h

Ellen Wilson McAdoo, 23-year-old daughter of the U.S. Senator and grand-daughter of former President Wilson, filed notice of intention to wed William Alfred Hinshaw, young film and radio musician.    Her first husband, divorced, was Rafael Lopez de Onate, Philippine-born actor.

Ellen had schooled in France and studied music - she was particularly interested in voice.e

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 8 (AP) -- Ellen McAdoo Hinshaw, 28, granddaughter of the late President Woodrow Wilson and daughter of the late Senator William Gibbs McAdoo, yesterday filed suit for divorce from Alfred Hinshaw, a musician.    She charged cruelty.

Mrs. Hinshaw asked custody of their child, William Gibbs Hinshaw, 2.

She and Hinshaw were married Sept. 12, 1938.    She was divorced the previous year from her first husband, Rafel Lopez de Onate, Latin actor, by whom she has a son, Richard, 8.

Ellen died Dec 22 1946, Los Angeles County, California; buried Dec 26 1946, Inglewood Cemetery, Inglewood, California.g,e
