Petunia Plants
Turn Into Smokes

KALAMAZOO, MICH., Aug. 6 -- (UP) -- Delno Henshaw was a puzzled man today over what happened to the garden in which he had planned to grow red, white and blue petunias as a patriotic gesture.

Henshaw first began wondering when little plants began pushing through the soil and didn't look a bit like petunias.  He said Wednesday the Western Michigan College biography [sic] department identified them as tobacco plants.

He said his only explanation is that "maybe the seed company made an error."

Gertrude died Nov 5 1995, Garfield, Grand Traverse County, Michigan; buried Nov 8 1995, Section E Lot 8 Grave 12, Riverside Cemetery, 1015 Gull Rd., Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo County, Michigan.3,7,8,9
