Born Jun - 1860, near Waynseville, Pulaski County, Missouri.3,4,5  (Jan 3 1860).2  

Bow was named after an uncle, Arten Bower.1  

Bow attended college and received a degree in agriculture.1  

Bow and niece Carrie were shown in the 1900 census (Jun 4 1900), Cullen Township, Pulaski County, Missouri:5

Hinshaw, A. B., head-of-household, age 40, born Jun 1860 in Missouri; father's birthplace blank; mother born in Kentucky; single; farmer; owned farm, mortgaged.
Hinshaw, Carrie E., niece, age 17, born Oct 1882 in Missouri; parents born in Missouri; housekeeper.

Great niece Mary Lavon Cappleman Hocker recalled "When I was 6 years I ate at Uncle "Bow's" table.  Everyone always called him 'Bow'.  He chewed tobacco and read most of the time.  My mother, Aunt Carrie and Uncle Ed Hinshaw cleaned the kitchen (Arlen Bower Hinshaw was a bachelor) and cooked the meal and we all ate together.1  

Arten Bower Hinshaw died Nov 18 1952, Rolla, Phelps County, Missouri; buried Cedar Hill Cemetery, near Waynesville, Fort Leonard Wood, Pulaski County, Missouri.1,2  

Bow was run over by a car in Waynesville, Missouri.1  He never married.1,2
