He married Mary Parker, about 1811.2,5  Mary, daughter of John Parker & Sarah Connelly, was born about 1796.2  

Benjamin Hinshaw died 1829, Surry County, North Carolina.5  

A Benjamin Hinshaw prepared his last will and testament on July 18, 1829, recorded in Surry County, North Carolina.1  Mary's brother, Edmond (Ed) Parker, was a witness.2  Because the time and place match exactly, it is believed this will was written by this Benjamin Hinshaw.6  

Mary remarried to Charles Stokes, Dec 18 1830, Surry County, North Carolina.7,8  

A marriage bond was recorded for Mary Henshaw & Charles Stokes on December 18, 1830, Surry County, North Carolina.9,10  Bondsman: Edmond Parker.10  

Mary and Charles Stokes had a child:

Alexander A. Stokes, born Aug 22 1833, Surry County, North Carolina; died Jul 23 1914, Bradley County, Tennessee; buried Jul 24 1914, Cleveland Cemetery (Fort Hill Cemetery), Cleveland, Bradley County, Tennessee; married 1) Anna Flomm (children: William H., Albert Parker, and Lillie Stokes); 2) Eliza (Seigler) McAmis, Dec 2 1900, Bradley County, Tennessee. 11,12,13,14,15,16

Mary's parents' family, along with some of the Hinshaws, moved to Missouri about 1830.2  

Mary and Charles died in Coles County, Illinois.17
