10/20/23 -- 2/14/05 Betty, a retired registered nurse and an Olympia resident since 1980, passed away February 14, 2005 at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Betty is survived by her husband, James L. Russell, Jr.; two sons, James III (Wanda) and Rick (Wendy); and two grandsons, Tucker and Jason. A celebration of her life will be held at Mills & Mills Funeral Home, 5725 Littlerock Road S.W., Tumwater, Washington, on Sunday, March 13, 2005, at 2:30 p.m. Betty will forever be in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations mailed to Providence Sound Home Care and Hospice, P.O. Box 5008, Olympia, Washington, 98509.

James (Jim) L. Russell, Jr., Colonel, United States Army (retired), passed away on May 22, 2012, in Cathedral City, California. He was born September 2, 1928, in Chelsea, Massachusetts. Jim grew up with two brothers, Francis and Charles, and his sister, Anne. Jim married Betty Luella Hinshaw on August 26, 1950. They were married for fifty-five years until Betty passed away on February 14, 2005. Jim married his second wife, Christina Brewis, on June 5, 2005. Jim and Chris lived in Olympia, Washington and moved to Cathedral City, California, due to medical issues. Jim was an honorable man who always did what was right, even when it was not easy. He will be deeply missed by his wife Christina, his brother Frank, his sister Anne, his sons Jim (Wanda), Rick (Wendy) and Dan (Laurie), his daughter Diane (Michael) and his grandchildren Tucker, Lisa, Jena, Michael and Jensen. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Charlie and his grandson Jason. Jim will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews, great grandchildren and many friends. A celebration of life will be held Sunday, August 19, 2012, at 2:00 p.m., at Mills and Mills Funeral home in Tumwater, Washington. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project would be greatly appreciated by the family.
