On Sep 12 1918 James Carl Hinshaw, age 18, registered for the World War I draft in Pulaski County, Indiana.  He declared he was born Nov. 6 1889 [note this is inconsistent with his declared age 18 and was presumably a mistake and should have been written Nov. 6 1898].  He declared he was then residing in Star City, Pulaski County, Indiana where he was a farmer employed by Elmer Hinshaw.  He declared his nearest relative was Elmer Hinshaw of Star City.  Although the name on the form was written "James Carl Hinshaw", he signed as "Carl Hinshaw".  He was recorded as medium height, slender, blue eyes, brown hair.9  On the same day his father Elmer Hinshaw also registered for the draft.9  The draft board official who signed the draft registration was Carl's uncle, J.F. [James Franklin] Marker.9  

He married Dora Mae Blinn, Sep 30 1921, Winamac, Indiana.1,10,11  Dora, daughter of Horatio Seymour Blinn & Mary Elizabeth Snyder, was born Oct 26 1900, Indiana.1,7,8  

Carl and Dora's marriage license was reported in the "Logansport Morning Press" (Logansport, Indiana) on Saturday, Oct 1 1921;10 their marriage was reported in the "Logansport Morning Press" (Logansport, Indiana) on Sunday, Oct 2 192111 (see scans below).  

Carl and Dora were shown in the 1930 census (Apr 21 1930), Van Buren Township, Pulaski County, Indiana:7

Hinshaw, Carl, head-of-household, age 31, born in Indiana; parents born in Indiana; first married at age 25; rented home; radio in home; occupation: farmer, farm; not a war veteran.
Hinshaw, Dora, wife, age 29, born in Indiana; parents born in Indiana; first married at age 23.

In 1971 Carl was still living in/near Star City, Pulaski County, Indiana.8  

Carl J. Hinshaw died May - 1971, buried Star City West IOOF Cemetery, Star City, Pulaski County, Indiana.1,2,8  

In 1983 Dora was living in/near Winamac, Pulaski County, Indiana.8  

Dora died Nov - 1983, buried Star City West IOOF Cemetery, Star City, Pulaski County, Indiana.2,8
