Hoyt and his sister and brother all married Burrow siblings: Hoyt's brother James Russell Hinshaw married Mary Ethel's sister Bessie Burrow, and Hoyt's sister Louella Hinshaw married Mary Ethel's brother Coy Burrow.⁹
