Born Aug 17 1865, Jasper County, Iowa.^1,2,4,5 Rhoda was born on a farm near Kellogg, Jasper County, Iowa.⁶

She married Learner Leeds Trout, Sep 21 1885, Jasper County, Iowa.^1,4,5,7 Learner Leeds Trout, son of Morris Trout & Elizabeth Leeds, was born Sep 18 1854, Highland County, Ohio.^6,8 Colonel Trout had been previously married to Rhoda's first cousin Hannah Elizabeth Hinshaw.^2,6

Colonel Trout was a farmer, first on a farm near Kellogg, Iowa, then on a place east of Newton, Iowa. Rhoda's uncle Zimri, a bachelor, and her two old-maid aunts, Asenath & Serena, lived together on a nearby farm. Rhoda inherited from them the money to build the family home on the farm near Newton in 1894.⁶

They retired from farming about 1925 and moved to a house in Newton, leaving Cecil, the older of their two sons, on the home place. Cecil bought the farm from the other heirs soon after Rhoda's death. In 1976 he sold the farm to his son Leslie. A new house was built in 1977.⁶
