Adam was probably named after Adam Stephen/Stephens, the first sheriff of Berkeley County and also an officer who had figured prominently in the Revolution and colonial wars.    Adam's father William might have been friends with Adam Stephen as William once posted a 1000 pound bond for Adam.^c

He married Margaret McKenny, Aug 25 1802, Berkeley County, Virginia.^b    (Mary McKenny)¹⁴⁵    Margaret, daughter of Daniel McKenny.¹⁶⁵

Adam Stephen Henshaw and his nephew George Henshaw were pioneer settlers of Union County, Kentucky.^d

Adam S. Henshaw was shown in the 1820 census, Union County, Kentucky.^e   

About 1821/22, Adam Henshaw was granted a tavern license in Union County, Kentucky.^g

On Jun 27 1836 a slave named Moses was recorded as emancipated in Gallatin County, Illinois.    Moses was recorded as age 23, born in Virginia, 5ft. 7in. tall.    The "other party" in the emancipation record (usually the slave owner) was recorded as Adam Henshaw.^h
