He married Sarah Samantha Mann1,3,14 [Martie Mann14], Jun 23 18831,3,14, Randolph County, Indiana1,3,14.  Sarah, daughter of William Mann & Mary E. Bailey, was born Mar 2 1865, Randolph County, Indiana.1,2,3,4,7,9,15  

At Cherry Grove MM on 3-12-1887, Elwood & wife Sarah L. & children Cora & May were received in membership.1  At Cherry Grove MM on 3-14-1896, Elwood S. Hinshaw was again received in membership.1  

The Mooreland Monthly Meeting of Friends was organized March 1, 1888 in the town of Mooreland, Henry County, Indiana.  The Friends Church was erected in 1889.  Elwood Hinshaw was the first paid minister in 1909.16
