William was shown in the 1860 census (Aug 10 1860), living in the household of uncle Orlando B. (aka A.B.) Hinshaw in Randolph County, North Carolina:¹

On Sep 20 1871 Wm A. Hinshaw was appointed as Postmaster of Clio, Marlboro County, South Carolina.⁷

He married Christiana A. Bristow, about 1872.^3,8,9 Christiana, daughter of William A. Bristow & Julia Edens^{2,3,4,9,10,11,12}, was born Oct 23 1856^{2,3,4,9,10,11,12} [about 1852¹³, about 1855¹⁰], South Carolina^{2,3,4,9,10,11,12}.
