CITY RESIDENT FOR 40 YEARS DIES RECENTLY
A resident of McMinnville for over 40 years, Havila Hinshaw died July 11 near Tillamook at the age of 80. Funeral services were held Monday from the McMinnville Funeral home, the Rev. B. Earle Parker officiating, with vault entombment at the River View Abbey mausoleum.
Hinshaw was born in Polk county in 1864. He was the last of the eight children of saac Isaac Hinshaw, an early pioneer from Iowa, who took up a donation land claim in Oregon. In 1889 he married Nannie James, who died in 1937. He married Emma Simons of Klamath Falls in 1944.
Hinshaw lived in McMinnville from 1903 until 1944, when he moved to Tillamook. He was a member of the IOOF and the WOW.
Hinshaw leaves his widow; a daughter, Mrs. John Bullis, and niece, Mrs. L.N. Bauer, both of McMinnville; a nephew, Henry Hinshaw of Portland, and two grandchildren, Mrs. Harry Gettman of Milwaukie and Mrs. Gordon Watkins of Salt Lake City, Utah. An adopted daughter, Frances Richardson, died in 1944.
