He married Gladys Ridgley^1,2 [Gladys Ridgeley⁹, Gladys Ridgely⁴], 1922^1,2.  Gladys, daughter of Bernard Elmore Ridgely & Ruth Ella Hunt^1,2,10, was born 1904^1,2,10 [about 1906⁴], District of Columbia^1,2,10 [Bradbury Heights, Price George's County, Maryland^7,9,11].

Jesse and Gladys were divorced.¹  

Jesse's two sons apparently then lived with (or stayed with) both Gladys' parents as well as Jesse's parents.  Sons Charles and Eugene were shown in the 1930 census (Apr 15 1930), living with Gladys and her widowed father in Bradbury Heights, Prince George's County, Maryland²

Gladys remarried to Herbert T. Shelton, by whom she had a son, Herbert T. Shelton, Jr.^4,12

Gladys died Feb 28 1944, at her home, 4912 R St., Bradbury Heights, Prince George's County, Maryland; buried unmarked grave, Cedar Hill Cemetery, near Washington D.C., 4111 Pennsylvania Avenue, Suitland, Prince George's County, Maryland.^7,12  

Gladys' obituary was published in "The Washington Post" (Washington, D.C.) on March 1, 1944¹² (see scan below).  

Jesse was shown in the 1930 census (Apr 11 1930), living in a lodging house in Washington, D.C.:¹³

He then married Anna Beatrice Fletcher.^14,15  Anna was born about 1903, Virginia.^6,14  

Jesse and Anna's license to marry was reported in "The Washington Post" (Washington, D.C.) on October 28, 1936¹⁴ (see scan below).  

Anna had been previously married, with children Francis, Helen and Wilson Fletcher.^14,15
